Did an Asteroid Cause the Great Biblical Flood? Stone Tablets Discovered May Further Prove Biblical Account

By Nate Brown

Somewhere in the deep of Turkey, just six miles from Urfa, an ancient city, lies a discovery so profound that it could alter the course of human history.

Inside what is called the Gobekli Tepe, also known as the world’s first temple, lies inscriptions that depict a far different history than what is accepted by mainstream archaeology. Instead, the writings on the stone tablets state that an asteroid impacted the earth and caused a mini ice age which wiped out the pre-historic ancients.

The temple itself is known as the oldest in the world and predates Stonehenge by six thousand years. The carvings at Gobekli Tepe describe a comet strike, said some experts from the University of Edinburgh’s School of Engineering. Their report appeared as a paper in the little-known International Journal of Mediterranean Archaeology and Archaeometry, published by the University of the Aegean.

According to the Bible, The Great Flood, wiped out ancient civilizations all across the world, but did an asteroid or a meteorite cause such a catastrophe?

In Genesis 7:4 it reads – 4 For seven days hence I will cause it rain upon the earth forty days, and forty nights, and all the substance that I have made, will I destroy from off the earth.

Could an asteroid be what God used to cause the flood? Surprisingly, Answers in Genesis, an online publication has detailed how it could be possible that an asteroid, sent by God, caused the great flood.

One example of an impact powerful enough to trigger the Flood is the 56-milewide (90 km) Acraman impact crater in South Australia. It apparently resulted from a 2.5-mile-wide (4 km) asteroid that slammed into the Outback at almost 16 miles per second. The explosion would have been equivalent to the detonation of 50,000–100,000 hydrogen bombs all at once! The impact blasted some of the pulverized pre-Flood crystalline basement rocks to sites 280 miles (450 km) away, and the debris accumulated in a layer 16 inches (40 cm) thick within some of the earliest Flood deposits.

An asteroid impact—or several simultaneous impacts—that triggered the Flood may also have been part of an ongoing, solar-system-wide catastrophe that lasted for months or years. If so, we would expect to find evidence of many other meteorites that subsequently hit the earth during God’s judgment on the planet. Two lines of evidence can be used to support this inference: (1) the rapid rate of past cratering during the Flood, and (2) the fields of meteorites left by this bombardment.

So what do some scientists say? https://player.vimeo.com/external/215579381.sd.mp4?s=6ff48ff847ecefdea0b81d0eafc93b86f2d63c35&profile_id=164

Back to where the truth is located, in scripture. According to what the Bible says, in Genesis 7:11-12

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the [ab]second month, the seventeenth day of the month, in the same day were all the [ac]fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened, 12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

“The fountains of the great deep” is interesting wording used in the above scripture and it could point to a reality in which God used asteroids to flood the Earth. After the asteroids, and opening the fountains, the flood commenced, and that was that for the ancients. What say you reader, did an asteroid sent by God cause the great flood?
