Alberta urges Trudeau gov’t to fire the head of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police

EDMONTON, Alberta (LifeSiteNews) – The province of Alberta has called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s federal government to replace Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Commissioner Brenda Lucki, saying they have lost confidence in her leadership.

“Alberta has lost confidence in RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki and is calling on Canada’s minister of public safety, Marco Mendicino, to immediately rescind her appointment,” said Alberta Minister of Justice Tyler Shandro in a statement sent out late Wednesday. 

Shandro blasted Lucki for failing to deal with “the RCMP’s history of systemic racism in a forthright and public manner,” along with damaging the “integrity of an investigation into a mass shooting.” 

Additionally, Shandro said Lucki “failed to inform the federal cabinet of all law enforcement options available prior to the decision to invoke the Emergencies Act.” 

“In two major public inquiries, commissioner Lucki was given an opportunity to take accountability and prove to Canadians that RCMP leadership could make changes to ensure that errors of judgment would not happen again. Instead, commissioner Lucki, in sworn testimony, has dodged accountability and excused her actions,” said Shandro, adding that an RCMP commissioner must be held to
