Amb. Danny Danon: Vienna Talks Could Shift the Future of the Middle East

By The Editor

This week in Vienna, negotiations resumed between Iran and the remaining signatories of the nuclear deal world powers signed in 2015.  The nuclear deal is formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the current signatories are Iran, Russia, China, France, Germany and Britain. The US is in Vienna but not at the negotiating table because the Trump administration unilaterally pulled out of the agreement in 2018 and restored sanctions on Iran as part of Washington’s “maximum pressure strategy” on Tehran.

Before the talks started, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett challenged world leaders to not give in to what he calls Iran’s “nuclear blackmail.” Bennett’s view reflects how many Israeli leaders look at these talks – they fear this agreement might be worse than the original and lead to a nuclear-armed Iran.

We discussed these Vienna talks, the danger of a nuclear Iran and an emerging military alliance between Israel and its Sunni Arab neighbors with Danny Danon, Israel’s former Ambassador to the United Nations. Danon told CBN News these talks are crucial to the future of the Middle East and the world.  Click the video above to watch the full interview.
