(LifeSiteNews) — The Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ new post-Dobbs policy promising nationwide abortion access in violation of statewide restrictions is an attempt to provoke conflict with pro-life states, a conservative commentator warned Tuesday.

The Biden administration had announced Friday that it was expanding abortion on demand and pro-abortion counseling through the VA effective immediately, LifeSiteNews reported. The new rule makes abortion available for hundreds of thousands of veterans and their beneficiaries, in violation of federal and state laws.

In a September 2 press release, the VA said it “is taking steps to guarantee Veterans and other VA beneficiaries abortion-related care anywhere in the country.”

“VA employees, when working within the scope of their federal employment, may provide authorized services regardless of state restrictions,” the press release read.

Daily Wire podcaster and author Michael Knowles warned in a September 6 podcast episode that the move was an attempt by an increasingly aggressive Biden administration to spark conflict with Republican-led states ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.

“The clearest evidence, I think, that the Dems are trying to provoke political violence now, just came out of the VA,” Knowles said.
