(LifeSiteNews) — On this week’s episode of The Bishop Strickland Show, Bishop Joseph Strickland explains why he signed the formal correction of Pope Francis’ statement on Holy Communion in Desiderio desideravi.
His Excellency admits he would be “glad to be proven wrong” that Francis wasn’t saying or implying people could receive the Eucharist without turning away from sin and reforming their lives in greater conformity to Jesus Christ. The Pope’s statement reads: “To be admitted to the feast all that is required is the wedding garment of faith which comes from the hearing of his Word.”
But Bishop Strickland is nevertheless concerned about the statement because bad actors “vigorously opposed” to Church teaching could easily interpret it as an endorsement of Communion for the unrepentant.
