2.5 million times a firearm was used for self-defense, defending others, and or protecting property over a three year period, according to a Center For Disease Control (CDC) Study that remains unpublished.

Florida State University uncovered that the CDC hid results of an influential study detailing that firearms are used three and a half more times for applicable purposes than criminals use them.

The CDC conducted the study utilizing data they collected from 1996-1998 and subsequently, according to the University, buried the research.

The unpublished findings support previously discovered findings by Florida State University criminologist Gary Kleck and fellow professor Marc Gertz that since the early 1990’s a firearm has been used for defensive purposes between 760,000 and 2.5 million times.

Kleck released a paper on February 26th, 2018 regarding the issue, and exposed the CDC for burring they study.

The unpublished study that was conducted by the CDC posed the question; “During the last 12 months, have you confronted another person with a firearm, even if you did not fire it, to protect yourself, your property, or someone else?”

The survey did not include incidents from jobs such as policing or anytime that a firearm gets utilized as part of a job. Instead, the data gathered displayed that millions of Americans use guns for their applicable purposes, such as self-defense.

Kleck found that the CDC’s results showed that guns were used defensively by people about 3.6 times as often as they were used offensively by criminals.
