Democrats call anti-infanticide bill passed by House Republicans ‘extremist’ and ‘dangerous’

WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) — Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives called anti-infanticide legislation “extremist” and “dangerous,” with all but two voting against the bill.

The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, passed Wednesday, would strengthen penalties for medical professionals who fail to provide basic care to infants who survive an abortion. The bill passed 220-210 with one Democrat, Texas Representative Henry Cuellar, voting yes. Texas Democrat Vicente Gonzalez voted “present,” according to Fox News.

Oregon Democrat Suzanne Bonamici called the bill “extremist, dangerous and unnecessary” on Wednesday.

Texas Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee denied that infanticide and “partial-birth abortion” are even a problem. She also called the legislation “extremist” and said, as a “person of faith,” she would oppose the bill to protect innocent babies who survive abortions.
