Dutch farmers’ strategy to fight Net Zero policies may have evolved beyond protests

(LifeSiteNews) — With worldwide attention on the widespread riots in France, which have continued for a sixth night, a recent Dutch farmers’ protest has been largely overlooked.

On June 30, hundreds of farmers organized by the Farmers’ Defense Force made their way to the Dutch city of The Hague. In defiance of a government order forbidding tractors from the motorway, the group held a demonstration and a public address in the city. 

At 7:00am on the morning of the planned protest, city mayor Jan van Zanen issued an order banning tractors from the city center.

Dutch police responded by placing heavy construction vehicles outside the House of Representatives in The Hague.

Seven arrests were reported by local news outlet Den Haag FM, as protesters attempted to leave the permitted demonstration zone to march on the House of Representatives. 

Yet the protest, which comes in the wake of conditions proposing a limit of two dairy cows to a “football-pitch sized field,” was not supported by the much larger AgriAction group.

Announced in May 2023, the limitations have been met with fury and incomprehension by Dutch
