Fauci announces upcoming retirement after dictating COVID policies since 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) – Dr. Anthony Fauci will no longer work in the federal government for the first time in 54 years, starting this December.

Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and top medical advisor to President Joe Biden, announced his departure on Monday. He is facing the strong possibility of Congressional investigations into his role in the origins and outbreak of COVID-19 and the possible suppression of information on vaccines, should Republicans retake the U.S. House of Representatives or the Senate in November. Republican leaders said this week that Fauci’s retirement will not stop their investigations.

“After more than 50 years of government service, I plan to pursue the next phase of my career while I still have so much energy and passion for my field,” Fauci stated. “I want to use what I have learned as NIAID Director to continue to advance science and public health and to inspire and mentor the next generation of scientific leaders as they help prepare the world to face future infectious disease threats.”
