(LifeSiteNews) – The Florida Board of Education (BOE) unanimously approved new rules Wednesday making it a fireable offense for public college employees to defy state law requiring restrooms and changing facilities to be reserved to actual members of their designated sex.
Fox News reported that under the new rules, employees will face termination upon their second violation of HB 1521, signed into law in May by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. The law applies not just to public universities but to student housing as well.
“Bathroom spaces are very intimate and private,” BOE member Grazie Christie said. “There is historically- and cross-culturally accurate reasons why males and females use different spaces in those intimate moments, not just for girls and women, but also for boys and men. This is not something that as a culture we should ditch because of very, very new ideologies that are challenging the science of male and female, which doesn’t change because biology doesn’t change.”
