TALLAHASSEE, Florida (LifeSiteNews) – Florida’s medical board voted Friday to begin the process of banning transgender drugs and surgeries for gender-confused children.

According to Politico, after a Friday public hearing of over three and a half hours, the Florida medical board determined to restrict hormonal drugs and surgeries for minors, and to impose limits for adults.

Florida Representative Randy Fine, R-Brevard County, celebrated this decision, calling for harsher punishments for doctors who give children irreversible drugs or surgeries to change their genders.

“I’ve had enough,” he tweeted. “Next session, I will shepherd legislation to make it illegal to provide drugs or surgery to a minor for ‘gender assignment.’ Will make it felony child abuse punishable by prison/loss of medical license. This legislation would not affect mental counseling.”
