(LifeSiteNews) — Rising Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy indicated that he will sign a pledge affirming that, if elected, he will protect the unique dignity of women in U.S. law and policy. At the same time, the 37-year-old entrepreneur reasserted that transgenderism is a “mental health disorder.”
In an interview confirming his intention to sign Concerned Women for America’s (CWA) pledge titled, “Presidential Promise to American Women,” Ramaswamy told Breitbart News “the reality is transgenderism in this country … is a mental health disorder. Call it for what it is. It’s been treated that way for most of our medical history.”
“So my view is that people, especially kids, when they say their gender doesn’t match their biological sex, that means they’re suffering from a condition, and the compassionate thing to do is not to affirm that confusion,” he told the news outlet. “That is not compassionate.
