INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (LifeSiteNews) – Indiana can now enforce its ban on dismemberment abortions after a federal judge lifted her injunction against it in light of reversal of Roe v. Wade.
U.S. District Judge Sarah Evans Barker issued the order on Thursday after a motion from the state’s Medical Licensing Board. It effectively bans abortions at 13 weeks and later.
The state law prohibits abortionists from “knowingly or intentionally perform[ing] a dismemberment abortion unless reasonable medical judgment dictates that performing the abortion is necessary: (1) to prevent any serious health risk to the mother; or (2) to save the mother’s life.”
Dismemberment abortions, also called dilation & evacuation, are often committed in the second trimester. Abortionists use a sopher clamp to rip out the body parts of a pre-born baby in the womb and to crush the baby’s skull, according to former abortionist Anthony Levatino.
