SACRAMENTO, California (LifeSiteNews) — One of the radical pro-abortion laws signed by California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom last week will prohibit tech companies from cooperating with out-of-state law enforcement to prosecute abortions.

AB 1242, signed into law September 27, will bar California-based tech companies like Google, Meta (Facebook), Twitter, and Instagram from turning over personally identifiable data to out-of-state law enforcement officials investigating illegal abortions, CNN reported.

Under the new law, companies are prohibited from sharing information like geolocation data, search histories, and social media messages from people accused of illegally performing an abortion or helping a woman obtain an abortion, even if served with a search warrant or subpoena.

The measure will also block cooperation between California and law enforcement officials in pro-life states when those officials are attempting to investigate an abortion deemed unlawful in their states but legal in California.

CA leads the nation in protecting reproductive rights. Today, @CAGovernor advanced this mission by signing #AB1242.

I thank @BauerKahan, @AsmMiaBonta, & @AsmGarcia for their partnership. We’ll continue using every tool we have to protect abortion rights. https://t.co/DXz4IATHXq pic.twitter.com/0zh8nTm05O
