WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) – New Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidance has taken effect recommending that homosexual men who partake in sodomy be allowed to donate blood as long as they haven’t had new sexual partners within the preceding three months.
Finalized in May, the recommendations reportedly took effect Monday and follow long-standing complaints from activists that the agency stigmatized homosexual men, who have disproportionately higher rates of HIV compared to the rest of the population. Centers for Disease Control data have shown that homosexual and bisexual men make up 70% of new cases of HIV despite their relatively low share of the general population.
Overall, the agency dramatically reduced the recommended deferral periods – or time required to wait before donating – from 12 months to three months. The new guidance recommends blood collection organizations ask everyone, regardless of their sex, whether they’ve had new or multiple sexual partners within the last three months. If they have, under FDA advice, they’re asked whether they participated in anal sexual activity. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the FDA had become more specific in targeting same-sex activity by recommending deferrals for female donors
