WHITBY, Ontario (LifeSiteNews) — A Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) officer who in January posted a video online voicing her support for the trucker Freedom Convoy in her full uniform is now facing charges.
According to a police spokesperson, Constable Erin Howard is looking at charges under Ontario’s Police Services Act and is due for her first court appearance on May 5.
On January 24, Howard posted a video on her Twitter account, giving her support to the truckers who at the time were on route to Ottawa to demand the end of all COVID mandates.
“I really wanted to give a shout-out to all the truckers. I think what you guys are doing is incredible, you’re fighting for our rights and freedoms,” said Howard in the video, which has now been deleted. “And right now, it feels like we’re a little bit at war and those rights and freedoms are at stake. So, you guys are honestly true heroes. What you’re doing is just incredible.”
Shortly after Howard posted her video, which went viral, the DRPS announced it would be investigating Howard, despite the force not having a mandatory jab policy in effect at the time.
