Ontario gov’t sued over former COVID pass scheme ‘excluding’ unjabbed residents from daily life

TORONTO (JCCF) – The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms has announced that the challenge to Ontario’s now-cancelled COVID vaccine passport program will be heard in Ontario Superior Court, Toronto Courthouse, on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, and, Wednesday, July 27, 2022,  beginning at 10:00 a.m. EST.

On September 22, 2021, the Ontario government restricted access to many public venues exclusively to people who could provide proof of receiving the COVID shots. Gyms and restaurants were forced to refuse entry to customers without proof of having received two COVID shots, or face fines of up to $10,000,000. Business owners could also face imprisonment for up to one year for not refusing service to customers without the COVID shots.

Justice Centre lawyers represent eight Ontario residents who were excluded from normal everyday activities because of the passport system, for making their own medical decisions about the COVID shots.
