On May 2nd, 2018 President Donald J. Trump of the United States was nominated by Congress for the Nobel Peace Prize because of his work regarding North Korea.
House Republicans are seeking to nominate and reward the President for bringing peace to a region that has been unstable for roughly fifty years.
On April 20th, 2018, North Korea announced that it would end its nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missile testing programs, on April 27th, 2018 both North and South Korea announced that they would work towards ending the Korean war which has been ongoing since 1953.
“This is more progress in North Korea than we saw during the entire Obama administration, says Rep. Luke Messer. “And it’s a direct result of President Trump’s strong leadership on the world stage.”
A total of 18 Republican lawmakers have formally asked members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee to consider Donald Trump for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize.
