Trump’s historic speech to March for Life: Abortion is ‘wrong, it has to change’

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 19, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) — In the first-ever live streamed address of a sitting president to the March for Life, Republican President Donald Trump vowed his administration will work to uphold the sanctity of life.

“Under my administration, we will always defend the very first right in the Declaration of Independence, and that is the right to life,” the president told cheering crowds of hundreds of thousands that packed Washington Mall Friday.

This year’s March for Life, which organizers say is the “largest annual human rights demonstration in the world,” marks 45 years since the Supreme Court’s Roe v Wade ruling on January 22, 1973, struck down abortion laws. 

Since that time, an estimated 60 million children in the womb have been legally killed in the United States.

“As you all know, Roe versus Wade has resulted in some of the most permissive abortion laws anywhere in the world,” Trump told the crowd.

The United States is “one of only seven countries to allow elective late term abortions along with China, North Korea and others,” he said.

“It is wrong, it has to change.”
