Two Canadian provinces remove mask mandates and most other COVID rules

(LifeSiteNews) — Alberta and Saskatchewan have become the first Canadian provinces to remove their mask mandates. Only a few weeks ago, they already got rid of COVID vaccine passports following public support of the truckers’ Freedom Convoy which called for an end to all mandates.

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced that as of today, masks are no longer required, and most “remaining public health restrictions” have been dropped as part of the province’s “Phase Two” opening plan.

“Starting today, almost all public health restrictions are lifted — including the provincial indoor mask mandate. And we will ensure that municipalities can no longer impose their own public health restrictions,” tweeted Kenney today.

In a press release, Kenney said the “pressure on our health-care system and the people it serves is lessening and we can now move forward.”
