The Echo Chamber: Google is Guilty of Ideological Suppression, Confirmation Bias, and Ritual Defamation

A top-tier Google employee created a memo in which he described exactly what every single Christian and conservative is undergoing from the technology giant. Upon discovery of the employee-written memo, Google fired said employee.

The Google employee, software engineer James Damore, wrote a piece entitled; Google’s Ideological Echo Chamber. In which the engineer describes how conservative voices are actually silenced and suppressed, in addition, anyone with an opposing view of the technology giant is systemically practically marginalized for their ideology.

The problem of such ranges from company bias to information censorship. Google is the largest search engine on the planet, with over 65% of all searches done on Google, it’s fair to say that Google is responsible for an enormous amount of information processed by the people of the world on a daily basis. With such responsibility it is of the utmost importance that Google maintains fair play on both sides of the ideological spectrum, however, what Google just did to its own employee with an opposing view systematically proves the problem in America’s polarization. Information within Google and controlled by Google is subject to insurmountable bias.

The author of the document pleaded Google to pursue ideological diversity and for doing such the software engineer, who has a masters degree in Systems Biology from Harvard, was systemically assassinated, thus proving the entirety of one of the memo’s points.

As a result, the ex-googler is now planning to sue Alphabet inc. for firing him. As Yale professor Nicholas Christakis states, what Google did to this employee is indeed ‘textbook “ritual defamation.”’

Youtube, owned by Google, was once a great place where ideas could flourish, and both sides of the spectrum could effectively disseminate information to their respective followings, however, Google took issue with ideological diversity and thus created an atmosphere where only some ideas can flourish, and others are suppressed.

Google explained recently in a Blog Post in regards to the aforementioned issue that simply suppressing ideas is not enough and instead;

When people search for sensitive keywords on YouTube, they will be redirected towards a playlist of curated YouTube videos that directly confront and debunk violent extremist messages. We also continue to amplify YouTube voices speaking out against hate and radicalization through our YouTube Creators for Change program. Just last week, the U.K. chapter of Creators for Change, Internet Citizens, hosted a two-day workshop for 13-18 year-olds to help them find a positive sense of belonging online and learn skills on how to participate safely and responsibly on the internet. We also pledged to expand the program’s reach to 20,000 more teens across the U.K. — Google

James Damore proved to the world that Google does, in fact, have an enormous ideological echo chamber, and the ramifications of his actions resulted in his firing from Google, such only proves the narrative that Google is crushing conservative or opposing view points. As a result of the polarization of information creates a division in between what is available from Google and what is in fact true. Such an echo chamber has dire consequences for future generations because it is, in fact, ideological brainwashing.

Google has effectively created an environment where holding an opposing view is almost considered an act of terrorism. What say you reader?
