Lawyer blasts denial of surgeon nun’s religious exemption for COVID shots on Laura Ingraham

(LifeSiteNews) — The attorney of a religious sister who is also a doctor and spoke at the Republican National Convention (RNC) decried the denial of her COVID shot religious exemption request on Fox News host Laura Ingraham’s show Thursday.

“This denial of a religious exemption to someone who says quite clearly that she can have nothing to do with abortion-connected vaccines developed from fetal cell lines is just inexplicable,” said Christopher Ferrara of the Thomas More Society, who is representing Sr. Deirdre Byrne in her lawsuit against Washington, D.C., and its mayor and health department director. 

“The only explanation I can think of is that this represents yet another example of the intersection of politics, bureaucratic intransigence, and religious liberty. The result is a constitutional train wreck,” he added.

Thomas More Society attorneys filed suit on behalf of Byrne, who is a double board-certified family practitioner and surgeon, on March 9, 2022. While Byrne’s rejection of the COVID shots is based on their connection to aborted babies via testing on fetal cell lines, she pointed out to Ingraham that she herself
