Iran Fires More than 300 Missiles and Attack Drones at Israel in Unprecedented Attack

Rocket sirens and booms were heard across Israel early Sunday morning after Iran launched an unprecedented, wide-scale aerial assault that threatened to push the Middle East to the brink of a regional war.

Israel’s military says it intercepted the “vast majority” of more than 300 Iranian attack drones and missiles.

“A few impacts were identified, among them at a military base in the south of the country, with minor damage to infrastructure,” an IDF statement says.  Fighter jets also shot down dozens of cruise missiles and drones. 

A young girl from the Negev was lightly injured during the attack, officials say. Meanwhile, a 10-year-old boy from a Bedouin town is in serious condition after being wounded by shrapnel following the interception of a drone. 

Israel’s Homefront Command announced Israelis no longer need to be near their bomb shelters, indicating the Iranian attack is over for now. 

American officials say the US military shot down Iranian drones headed for the Jewish state. Britain’s Defense Ministry says its jets will “intercept any airborne attacks within range of our existing missions, as required.”
