After the election and inauguration of Donald Trump, one of the very first things the newly-elected President did was sign the United States out of the Trans Pacific Partnership.
However, recently President Donald Trump suggested through order that he wanted a review conducted of the Trans Pacific Partnership to potentially rejoin the United States with the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP).
But now, according to a recent Trump Tweet; “While Japan and South Korea would like us to go back into TPP, I don’t like the deal for the United States. Too many contingencies and no way to get out if it doesn’t work,” Trump stated.
The comments by Trump come after the White House was forced to downplay the possibility of the United States rejoining the deal. According to Larry Kudlow, a top-level White House economic advisor, there are “discussions and considerations” about the United States potentially re-joining the deal, but alluded that nothing is concrete.
Kudlow said “it has to be in U.S. interest for us to take another look and actually go into it” and that “the president believes it is not presently in U.S. interest to sign it.”
While Japan and South Korea would like us to go back into TPP, I don’t like the deal for the United States. Too many contingencies and no way to get out if it doesn’t work. Bilateral deals are far more efficient, profitable and better for OUR workers. Look how bad WTO is to U.S.
