Multiple fatalities have been reported by authorities after a mass shooting occurred in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. The nature of the shooting is still unknown, however, near the scene was an event for The Madden NFL Championship Series.
“Mass shooting at the Jacksonville Landing. Stay far away from the area. The area is not safe at this time. STAY AWAY,” the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office tweeted. “Multiple fatalities at the scene, many transported. #TheLandingMassShooting.”
Police did not provide any further details regarding the incident, however, they “can’t stress enough to stay away. Many blocks away.”
According to the ATF the number of casualties is unclear, and the shooting took place in the Jacksonville Landing Area, along the St. Johns River.

Several people participating in the Madden event reported hearing shots sometime after 1:30pm EST. while the tournament was being livestreamed on Twitch.
Drini Gjoka, who won the 2018 Madden Challenge, said on Twitter he was injured in the shooting in a series of posts on Twitter.
“The tourney just got shot up. Im leavinng [sic] and never coming back,” Gjoka wrote.
“I am literally so lucky. The bullet hit my thumb,” he posted. “Worst day of my life.”
According to the PZ Feed on Twitter eleven have been reported as shot and four have reported as dead so far.
