On Wednesday news broke that several suspicious packages were sent to both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, later similar packages were identified in the mail of the Time Warner Center, CNN’s Headquarters in New York, as well as Maxine Waters and Eric Holder.
However, originally an explosive device was mailed to billionaire philanthropist George Soros on Monday. The devices were similar in nature, had a computer generated label with a return address of Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Fortunately, none of the devices detonated and no one was injured or worse. Further, the FBI is currently investigating the matter and stated regarding such that other devices may have been sent to additional locations;
“This investigation is of the highest priority for the FBI,” Director Christopher Wray said in a statement. “We have committed the full strength of the FBI’s resources and, together with our partners on our Joint Terrorism Task Forces, we will continue to work to identify and arrest whoever is responsible for sending these packages. We ask anyone who may have information to contact the FBI. Do not hesitate to call; no piece of information is too small to help us in this investigation.”
President Trump condemned the acts of political violence and stated that it has no place in the United States;
“No nation can succeed that tolerates violence or the threat of violence as a method of political intimidation, coercion or control,” Trump said as he opened his remarks. “We want all sides to come together in peace and harmony.”
The President later stated that the hostility in part is due to the tone displayed by the media;
“The media also has a responsibility to set a civil tone and to stop the endless hostility and constant negative — and oftentimes, false — attacks and stories,” Trump said.
However, the Left is blaming President Trump for the series of mail bombs, stating that his rhetoric has led to the approval of political violence within the United States.
“There is a total and complete lack of understanding at the White House about the seriousness of their continued attacks on the media,” Jeff Zucker, president of CNN Worldwide, said in a statement. “The president, and especially the White House press secretary, should understand their words matter.”
John Brennan, the former CIA director, and a recipient of one of the suspicious packages accused Trump in a statement of inciting ‘these feelings of anger if not violence;’
“Unfortunately, I think Donald Trump too often has helped to incite some of these feelings of anger, if not violence, when he points to acts of violence or also talks about swinging at somebody from the press or the media,” Brennan went on. “So, I’m hoping this is going to make clear to him that what he has done heretofore as far as a lot of this rhetoric really is counterproductive. It is un-American. It is what a president should not be doing.”
The political divide between the Left and Right is mounting in the United States, all just weeks before the midterm elections. However, whether the left or right is to blame is here nor there, the real culprit is the inability for either party to communicate and disagree.
I am thinking just another outrageous Democrat stunt to gain sympathy just before the election.
