Biden admin loses appeal against ruling that stopped collusion on Big Tech censorship

MONROE, Louisiana (LifeSiteNews) — President Joe Biden’s administration lost another attempt to get approval to collude with social media companies to censor conservative speech.

Judge Terry A. Doughty denied the Biden administration’s request for a stay on his preliminary injunction, issued on the 4th of July, which prohibited the government from pressuring Big Tech to censor speech.

Judge Doughty noted in his denial that he gave legitimate exceptions for when the federal government can work with social media, including “to inform social-media companies of postings involving criminal activity, criminal conspiracies, national security threats,” as well as “extortion, other threats, criminal efforts to suppress voting, providing illegal campaign contributions” and “cyber-attacks against election infrastructure.”

Federal officials are not allowed to do what they were doing, which is take down posts that questioned the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines or raised legitimate questions about the integrity of the 2020 elections.

“Defendants cite no specific action that would be prohibited by this Preliminary Injunction that would provide grave harm to the American people or over democratic processes,” the judge ruled.
