(LifeSiteNews) – U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm is calling for a green energy “transition” amid high energy prices, claiming that it would mark “one of the most significant events in human history.”
Granholm made her remarks in a YouTube video released by the Department of Energy Thursday. “Right now, we are witnessing the beginning of one of the most significant events in human history: the clean energy transition,” Granholm stated. “It is long overdue, and it can’t progress fast enough.”
The department released the video as an international promotion for the Global Clean Energy Action Forum (GCEAF), set to take place in Pittsburgh in late September this year. According to Granholm, officials from over thirty countries will participate along with business leaders to focus on making clean energy “more secure, more affordable, and more accessible.”
The video comes as the Bureau of Labor and Statistics’ Consumer Price Index Report shows that gas prices increased by 7.5% in June, with an increase of 59.9% over the past year, the largest gas price increase since 1980.
