WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) — U.S. President Joe Biden on Tuesday issued a “Proclamation on Revoking the Air Travel COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement,” putting his seal on the official termination of the requirement set to take place May 12. The move comes days after the administration released an earlier statement announcing the requirement would be rolled back.

In the Tuesday proclamation, Biden said the U.S. is “in a different phase of the response to” COVID-19 than it was in October 2021, when Biden handed down the requirement mandating that air travelers from other countries show proof of vaccination against the coronavirus in order to enter the U.S.

Biden said that he had “determined that it was in the interests of the United States to adopt an international air travel policy that relied primarily on vaccination to limit the risk” posed by COVID-19 in accord with “guidance from our public health experts.”
