CDC offered plan for internment camps in so-called ‘shielding’ initiative

ATLANTA, GA (LifeSiteNews) – The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a detailed plan for isolating certain individuals in camps as part of a “shielding” initiative.

CDC published a document last year revealing a plan to isolate high-risk people in camps or community settings for an indefinite amount of time, but at least six months.

According to CDC, high-risk persons should be kept in these camps until “sufficient hospitalization capacity is established; effective vaccine or therapeutic options become widely available; or the COVID-19 epidemic affecting the population subsides.”

However, CDC warned that hospitals will likely remain overwhelmed while the pandemic runs its course. Additionally, the virus could take months to subside, and herd immunity “has not been demonstrated to date.”

“The shielding approach aims to reduce the number of severe COVID-19 cases by limiting contact between individuals at higher risk of developing severe disease (“high-risk”) and the general population (“low-risk”),” the July 2020 document reads.
