(LifeSiteNews) — In the first press conference since Hong Kong’s new health minister was approved by the Chinese government in Beijing last month, he announced that all citizens under COVID-19 quarantine orders will need to wear tracking devices.

Hong Kong health minister Lo Chung-mau stated that from July 17 onward, any of Hong Kong’s 7.8 million residents who receives a positive PCR test for COVID-19 will be required to wear an electronic bracelet to ensure they don’t leave their house, American Free Press (AFP) Hong Kong correspondent Xinqi Su reported Monday.

In the Sunday press conference, the Beijing-approved health minister suggested that Hong Kong should also adopt mainland China’s health code, which would apply a “code red” signal on individuals’ government-issued “LeaveHomeSafe” contact tracing app, preventing them from accessing any public venues.
