Danielle Smith to investigate granting back pay to gov’t employees fired over COVID jab mandates

(LifeSiteNews) — Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has said she will have her government investigate whether it will be possible to give back pay to those provincial employees who were fired for declining to receive the experimental COVID-19 injections. 

In an interview with True North‘s Andrew Lawton last weekend, Smith gave her take on New York’s Supreme Court’s recent decision to strike down New York City’s COVID vaccine mandate and award the petitioners in the lawsuit back pay for the loss of income they experienced as a result of their “unconstitutional” firing.

“I certainly saw that court decision,” Smith told Lawton after he asked if she would be willing to do something similar in Alberta. “And I suspect that we’re going to see more court decisions along those lines. I want us to be at the lead in making amends for some of the harms that were caused over the last two and-a-half years.”
