While Borysenko covers a particularly disturbing “team of experts” in New York, those in middle America should know, this trend is pervasive. Cedar Ridge, an inpatient psychiatric and residential treatment hospital for children in Oklahoma City, operates an internal program called The Nest, where children as young as 12 are affirmed in their transgenderness rather than treated for the underlying conditions, false influences or even traumatic experiences that led to their gender confusion and other co-occurring behavioral health issues.
The program, which is not always revealed to parents while admitting their children, covers topics like “Coming out safely”, “The trans experience”’, “Inclusiveness” and “What pride really means”.
A parent recently spoke with this publication about leaving her daughter at Cedar Ridge to be treated for gender dysphoria and returning to find her tucked into The Nest where her disfunction was affirmed. It took some serious persistence and strategic maneuvering for this family to get their daughter released from the facility. The lesson learned: When your child is in crisis, be extremely vigilant about what help you accept.
