GOP senator slams ‘ridiculous’ leftist push to make Americans trade beef for bugs

MOBILE, Alabama (LifeSiteNews) — Republican U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama on Monday stressed the importance of supporting American farmers and denounced the increased push by the radical left to promote insects as an alternative to beef, chicken, or pork.

Speaking to Breitbart News editor and talk show host Jeff Poor on Mobile, Alabama’s radio FM Talk 106.5, Sen. Tuberville argued that some of his leftist associates are out of touch with reality concerning the necessity of supporting American farmers.

“You’re seeing a lot of these politicians, especially some of my colleagues on the left, say, ‘Hey, we really don’t need farmers. You know, our food is pretty good that comes out of Kroger’s,’” he told Poor. “They have no clue where food comes from.”

Tuberville also denounced efforts by researchers to supplement or replace traditional American food choices with insects, usually advertising the change as a necessary means to support environmental “sustainability” and cope with alleged overpopulation.

“I don’t know whether you’ve seen this or not — I’ve seen these studies. They’re growing these insects to start feeding us insects,”
