Leftist economist Robert Reich condemns Elon Musk as ‘dangerous’ for taking on Twitter

(LifeSiteNews) – Tech mogul Elon Musk’s vision for freer discourse on Twitter aligns with “the dream of every dictator, strongman, demagogue and modern-day robber baron on Earth,” according to left-wing economist and former Clinton administration Secretary of Labor Robert Reich.

A vocal critic of speech discrimination by online communication platforms, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO recently bought 73.5 million Twitter shares amounting to 9.2 percent of the company, making him its single largest shareholder, then rejected a seat on the board of directors that would have capped his potential ownership at 15 percent, fueling speculation he intends to buy enough of the company to reform it himself.

Writing Tuesday in The Guardian, Reich clams one of the most high-profile examples of the censorship Musk condemns, Twitter’s post-election banning of former President Donald Trump, was actually “necessary to protect American democracy” from Trump’s supposed “lies,” which he likened to the propaganda disseminated by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
