Socialist Germany: ‘We Can No Longer Fully Rely on the U.S. White House’

Germany’s foreign minister stated on Monday that Europe can no longer rely on the Trump Administration because of President Trump’s comments regarding trade.

Last week, during an interview with CBS news, President Trump said that he felt as though the European Union was a foe. However, he later clarified his comments by stating that being a ‘foe’ is not necessarily a bad thing.

Well, I think we have a lot of foes. I think the European Union is a foe, what they do to us in trade. Now, you wouldn’t think of the European Union, but they’re a foe. Russia is foe in certain respects. China is a foe economically, certainly, they are a foe. But that doesn’t mean they are bad. It doesn’t mean anything. It means that they are competitive,” Mr. Trump said at his golf club in Turnberry, Scotland.

Regardless of Trump’s comments, Germany’s foreign minister twisted what was said and is using the opportunity to further distance the European Union from relations with America.

The foreign minister formally stated; “We can no longer completely rely on the White House,” Heiko Maas told the Funke newspaper group. “To maintain our partnership with the USA we must readjust it. The first clear consequence can only be that we need to align ourselves even more closely in Europe.”

He later added; “Europe must not let itself be divided however sharp the verbal attacks and absurd the tweets may be.”
