Trump-backed Kari Lake wins Republican primary for governor of Arizona

ARIZONA (LifeSiteNews) – Businesswoman and news anchor Kari Lake was declared the winner of the Republican nomination for governor of Arizona Thursday, in what is being called a rebuke for the GOP establishment and the legacy of the late Sen. John McCain.

Lake defeated attorney and businesswoman Karrin Taylor Robson 46.8% to 44.0%. Lake was endorsed by former President Donald Trump, U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn, former U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement director Thomas Homann, and various conservative media personalities; Robson had the support of the state’s outgoing, term-limited Republican Gov. Doug Ducey, former AZ governors Fife Symington and Jan Brewer, former Vice President Mike Pence, and groups such as the National Border Patrol Council and Americans for Prosperity.

Voting took place on Tuesday, after which Robson appeared to have an early lead, but as votes from more polling places were counted she was overtaken by Lake.
