Christian Professional Soccer Player Turned Down Chance At National Team Because of LGBTQ Pride Jerseys

By Nate Brown  Published: May 31, 2018

Jaelene Hinkle is a professional soccer player that indeed stood for her faith and moral convictions. She turned down her chance at playing for the prestigious U.S. women’s national team because she could not morally support wearing a jersey that commemorated the LGBTQ Pride Month.

Initially Hinkle did not give a reason for her decision to turn down, what many would call the chance of a lifetime, in June of 2017. However, she revealed to the Christian Broadcasting Network, CNB, the intentions behind her decision.

Hinkle states that she; ‘just felt so convicted in my spirit that it wasn’t my job to wear this jersey.’

She continued; ‘I gave myself three days to just seek and pray and determine what He was asking of me to do in the situation,’ she continued. ‘I’m essentially giving up the one dream little girls dream about their entire life, and I’m saying no to. It was very disappointing.’

‘I knew in my spirit I was doing the right thing. I knew I was being obedient. But just because you’re obedient doesn’t make it easy.’ she said.

Prior to the decision, and before she was asked to play on the team, in 2015 Hinkle made her moral convictions known regarding homosexuality and gay marriage. An Instagram post from the professional soccer player in 2015 reveals her true convictions about the matter;

“Jesus didn’t come to save those who already believed in him. He came so that the lost, rejected, and abandoned men and women would find Him and believe. I believe with every fiber in my body that what was written 2000 years ago in the Bible is undoubtedly true. It’s not a fictional book. It’s not a pick and choose what you want to believe. You either believe it, or you don’t.

This world may change, but Christ and His Word NEVER will. My heart is that as Christians we don’t begin to throw a tantrum over what has been brought into law today, but we become that much more loving. That through our love, the lost, rejected and abandoned find Christ.

The rainbow was a covenant made between God and all His creation that never again would the world be flooded as it was when He destroyed the world during Noah’s time. It’s a constant reminder that no matter how corrupt this world becomes, He will never leave us or forsake us. Thank you Lord for your amazing grace, even during times of trial and confusion.”

How is this different from NFL players kneeling during the National Anthem? Why applaud this woman, and hate the NFL so much? It doesn’t make sense.

How is it different? Both parties are choosing not to participate because of their personal beliefs, a “Protest” of something they don’t believe in. Do NFL teams not represent the US in some way?

Woah, what political party does the NFL protest for? If you don’t think they are protesting due to “Moral Conviction,” you must be missing the point of the protests.

Saying soldiers died specifically for the anthem is a bit much. Soldiers died fighting for the RIGHT to protest. Kneeling during the anthem has nothing to do with the military, but all to do with an unjust system that systematically attacks people of color, and, like in the article above, people of the LGBTQ community, as well as many other that aren’t “White Christians.”
What I’m saying is, doing something for what you believe in is a noble, respectful thing. But, don’t hate someone for standing up for what YOU don’t believe in. That, is a bigger slap in the face to the troops than kneeling ever is.

No one is protesting the National Anthem. It is simply the time they chose to demonstrate. AND they are only out on the field at that time because their company got paid to have them be there. AND what about the people at the stadium sitting, talking, and buying booze. You don’t fault them at all, only the players. Seems to me its about jealousy of the rich not caring about something that you care about. Thou shalt not coven thy neighbor’s house.

So, just because we have famous African Americans and Homosexuals, there is no oppression? Wasn’t Martin Luther King famous? Malcom X? Rosa Parks? But they weren’t oppressed because they were famous?
By the logic, we can say no Christians are oppressed because of the amount of famous ones. That doesn’t make sense.
Also, you can’t tell me that police aren’t militarized when some of them have literal tanks.

“The ‘system’ does not systemically attack people of color or LGBT individuals for one reason. Obama was president.”
That’s you saying the system doesn’t oppress African Americans because we had a black guy in office. That’s not how that works.
As far as questioning my education, I’m educated enough, and will take that as note of you not having ground to stand on, as attacking someone personally is the lowliest way to continue a debate.

Just because the leader was black, doesn’t disprove systemic racism. You should know the president doesn’t have that much power, since Trump is always blaming the Democrats for blocking what he wants.
And hey man, my feeling aren’t hurt, I was just pointing out that’s a bad way to argue. Kinda like what they do on Fox News.

I disproved it how? By saying the president doesn’t have as much power as they want? How does that make sense?
I’m not leaning to any certain perspective, I dislike both Republicans and Democrats. Racism has nothing to do with the political parties, It’s okay to admit the system is broken man, because it is.

Okay, well,
President Obama isn’t in office anymore, so that argument is null. I don’t think you understand what I’m trying to get at, but if you’re done, that’s fine. Best of luck in all you do, I look forward to more articles!

Praise the Lord. It’s nice to see someone who trusts in the Lord, that isn’t going to cave in to the world’s sinful behavior just because of fear of what others will say or do
And when we do stand up for God and his commandments we’re doing exactly what God expects us to do. Please continue to stay strong and remain diligent in all that you do for the Lord, and you’ll truly be blessed.
