International Monetary Fund to Relocate Headquarters from United States to Communist China

By The Editor  Published: July 25, 2017

Interestingly enough, the potential move is right on schedule as communist China accelerates towards ousting the United States from its leadership role on the world stage.

According to Christine Lagarde Head of the International Monetary Fund, changes in major emerging markets could mean that in ten years time the IMF headquarters could be in China;

“Which might very well mean, that if we have this conversation in 10 years’ time…we might not be sitting in Washington, DC We’ll do it in our Beijing head office,” the Fund’s Managing Director said.

The move, if it occurs, could prove that international organizations are making the turn towards communistic governance rather than democracy or even socialism. Interestingly enough, the United Nations is similarly making adjustments towards socialism with the selection of Antonio Guterres for Secretary General. However, the United Nations has always housed socialistic tendencies.

The potential move also highlights why China’s President Xi Jinping is actively claiming that Communist China will replace the United States on the world stage. The statement from Xi Jinping was made during the Davos Elite Meeting in January 2017.

On February 17, China’s Communist Party Chairman Xi Jinping announced what he called the “two guidances.” Beijing should now “guide the international community to jointly build a more just and reasonably new world order,” Xi said in an important national security meeting, and “guide the international community to jointly maintain international security.” Those are the most assertive public statements Xi has made so far about China’s role in shaping the international system. As Trump declares that Washington’s new strategy is an isolationist “America First,” is Beijing moving away from a reactive foreign policy strategy? If so, how will — and how should — Beijing try to shape the new world order?

Changes in big emerging markets will be reflected in the IMF’s voting structure, and the Fund will need to increase its representation in the region, according to Lagarde.

“Which might very well mean, that if we have this conversation in 10 years’ time…we might not be sitting in Washington, DC We’ll do it in our Beijing head office,” the Fund’s Managing Director said.

Lagarde highlighted that emerging economies are currently growing larger and more influential.

She added that the IMF’s bylaws call for the institution’s head office to be located in the largest member economy.

Since its establishment 70 years ago the IMF has always been located in the US. The US government has an effective veto over IMF decisions with a 16.5 percent share of its board votes.

According to analysts, China with growth rates forecast above six percent has a chance to overtake the US in gross domestic product during the next ten years and become the world’s largest economy in nominal terms.
